Grade 7-8 Spring Writing Camp, developed by educator Andrew Goldstein, refers to a five-day course to help middle school students develop academic reading and writing skills. The course has been developed to help students achieve specific objectives as outlined by the 2006 Ontario Curriculum, developed by the Ministry of Education of Ontario. At the end of the week, students will better be able to: - Answer open-ended questions - Complete two-paragraph compare and contrast exercises - Produce a draft copy and final copy of an assignment Over the course of the week, students explore the works of Roald Dahl, including several of his famous ‘Revolting Rhymes’ - SnowWhite, Little Red Riding Hood, and Jack and the Beanstalk, as well as his noted ‘Tales of the Unexpected,’ - The Landlady, and Parson’s Pleasure.’ The course draws on the specific and general learning expectations as outlined by the 2007 Ontario Curriculum Grade 9 and 10. Features: - Focus on the needs of high school and university writing assignments - Up-to-date writing samples, - Multimedia resources to engage digital learners; - Practice writing process, develop proper writing habits - Integrated grammar, vocabulary, traits lesson - Ample writing practice, two short paper, one main paper and many other writing opportunities throughout the program, - Digital writing portfolio keeps tracks of student’s development We are using Zoom for online programs. Please prepare a computer or laptop with a video camera and microphone. Tablets and Chromebooks are also supported.
